A first of its kind pop-up COVID-19 sample collection center has launched in New Rochelle.
The center, at Glen Island Park, was erected early Friday, March 13, by the state Department of Health.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that testing at the site, which was being set up at Glen Island Park on the Long Island Sound Shore, will be done by appointment only, with New Rochelle residents who have been quarantined being the first tested.
New Rochelle residents who would like to be tested can make an appointment by calling 888-364-3065.
The center is to assist in expediting collections and is not for walk-ins or drive-ins, but for those who have a referral from a physician to be tested for COVID-19.
If you are experiencing symptoms, you must still contact your physician for an assessment and referral. In addition, people not experiencing symptoms will not be tested.
The park is closed for all activities during the testing.
